Don’t cut corners when restoring your hardwood floor

We all love a great deal, there’s little doubt about that. That said, there’s a difference between striking up a great price for a great service on your hardwood floor, and simply paying less through cutting corners.

This is a challenge so many of our clients face. Hiring a ‘Jack of all trades’ may seem like a safe bet and a cost-effective option, but it doesn’t always work out like that. Handymen are, by name, very handy. Sometimes though, they can bite off a bit more than they can chew.

The following case study will ring true with a lot of our clients, and perhaps even yourself. By hiring non-industry experts, you’re setting yourself up to pay more in the long run when it comes to amending their mistakes. It may seem like you’re getting a bargain deal, but you’re essentially getting what you pay for; an unprofessional service.

Hardwood floor case Study

This project involved more than just restoring a heavily worn floor; we also had the task of correcting a previous handyman’s questionable work that was completed not long before. Keep in mind that the ‘before’ photos you see here are actually the ‘after’ photos from the previous company!

The main goal of this project was to brighten and rejuvenate the client’s solid oak floor while eliminating the uneven finish and random sanding marks left behind by the previous service.

To start, we conducted a test patch sanding. This allowed the customer to assess the various finishes available for their floor and make an informed decision about which one they preferred.

Next, we proceeded to sand the floor to eliminate the inadequately applied finish. This process exposes the bare wood, providing us with a smooth and clear surface to work on before we apply the coating. You’ll observe a significant transformation in the floor’s appearance just from the sanding alone.

Subsequently, we applied the coating selected by the customer, resulting in a complete transformation of the floor. Take a moment to compare the two pictures below and see the remarkable difference!

The customers were over the moon with the finish, and were even kind enough to leave us this wonderful testimonial…

They are simple, super-efficient, really friendly guys. Really easy to work with and very helpful. I would certainly recommend them.”

If you’re looking to restore and maintain your hardwood floors, you’re best opting with the professionals first time around. Handymen are an excellent option when it comes to so many jobs around your home, but without wealth of experience and knowledge in this area, floor restoration isn’t one of them.
